Voice Over – An Interview With Dave
This week’s featured Voice Over Actor is Dave!
How long have you been a Voice Actor?
I have been doing voiceover for a very long time. But I didn’t really start to focus on it until about 10 years ago. That’s when I started getting coaching and learning more about the art of it.
How did you get into the business?
Like most people in this biz I started in radio a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Is that vague enough?
We understand you’re the king of hard sell automotive. Can you tell us more?
I currently voice 115 dealerships across North America. We added five more since the beginning of the year! I’m a lucky guy to be sure!
You also do a lot of national promos and trailers?
Not as much as I want. I just returned from LA after a round of auditions and meetings. Hopefully it will work out. Can I encourage everyone to light a candle? Thanks!
Whats you’re favorite type of project?
I really like to art of the promo. A well written script of any type is always fun, but promos have that dramatic challenge to them.
What kind of equipment do you have in your studio?
We have two rooms at my studio. Bot are equipped with Avid C|24 control surfaces, Sennheiser 416 mics, Avalon 737sp preamps, MAC computers and Pro Tools 12 with various plugins.
What else should we know about Dave?
No ego here! The point of any work is to make sure the client loves the results. We always make sure that Ellen, or whomever we are working with is happy before we consider the project finished. One of my personality traits is that I am a hard worker and I take nothing for granted. Tomorrow is not guaranteed and neither is the next job.
