Are you paying too much NOT using a Voice Talent Agent? Why is using an agent a big deal? How can you utilize an agent to save money?
Let’s take a look through the eyes of an agent.
I had a call recently from a client looking for talent on a local market 60 second radio spot, that required a couple of actors. She had already received a quote directly from a few voice actors, but wanted to see if I could help her secure more options within her budget. She was already in a bind because the whole talent budget would have been used up from the quotes she had received for one actor and she still needed to hire another! Since my team is over the top awesome, and I love finding solutions for clients, I was able to break the budget apart and complete the project with two great actors! The results were fabulous and she is now a client-for-life!
One-Stop-Shopping.
A good agent is one-stop-shopping when casting directors, producers and clients are looking for auditions, or needing a multitude of actors for upcoming projects. An agent’s value list is long, but what my clients love most is having one person guiding them through multiple projects. An agent has access to more than one voice actor, which can improve a project dramatically. As a voice over agent, we know the actors and can bring insight to style, personality and strengths that will work best for a particular project. We then fine-tune a selection of auditions within the guidelines and budgets to get excellent choices the first time.
My clients, big or small, LOVE when they can simply email about an upcoming job, and what type of voice actor they need. Then, in 24 hours or less, not only will they have a good selection to present to their client, but it will ALL be within budget. But wait… there’s more! Sometimes bidding a project directly with voice talent can cause confusion, or delay. Some actors don’t have a pulse on current rates or may even inflate the rate without realizing that they have just out-priced themselves. I work with voice actors to can bring them back to reality, for both the client and the talent’s benefit. In my world, all clients are created equal no matter the company. Plus I can work special deals based on volume or longevity of other projects.
